What is there to do near Phuket airport
Phuket airport sits in the north of the island (Sakhu, Thalang). Within a short drive are several beaches — Nai Yang (the closest beach to the terminal), Mai Khao (Phuket's longest beach, where you can watch planes land low), and quieter Nai Thon and Layan further south — plus Sirinat National Park, the coastal casuarina-and-mangrove park wrapping the airport. Royal Lee Turquoise Community Mall is in Sakhu, right by the airport.
- Nai Yang Beach — the closest beach to the terminal; a calm bay with casuarina shade, inside Sirinat National Park.
- Mai Khao Beach — Phuket's longest beach, beside the runway; the classic spot to watch planes land, and a protected sea-turtle nesting coast.
- Sirinat National Park — the coastal forest-and-beach park wrapping the airport's north and south (managed by Thailand's DNP).
- Nai Thon and Layan beaches — a short drive south, quieter.
- Royal Lee Turquoise Community Mall (Sakhu) — an open-air community mall next to the airport.
